Welded stainless steel plate partially etched with ElpoNox

Pickling frees the part of scale and other impurities. Metals which can be treated with the ElpoChem pickling process include:

Pickling imparts lasting improvement to the corrosion resistance. After proper pickling, surfaces and welded seams are metallically blank and free of scale layers and temper colors.

1. Fe2O3 layer, poorly soluble in acid

2. Fe3O4 layer, more acid soluble

3. FeO layer, dissolves well in acid

4. Metal substrate

Chemical pickling

Pickling can be performed by spraying the pickling or by immersing the part in a bath. The dwell time ranges from a few minutes to several hours.

Anodic pickling

With anodic pickling, the removal takes place with the application of direct current in specially equipped plants.

Pickling of titanium and titanium alloys

The pickling and deburring effect is especially good with ChemoLux titanium pickling processes for titanium and titanium alloys such as, such as TiAl6V4, Nitinol, and niobium, tantalum and zirconium.

The exposure time depends on the material, temperature, metal removal rate and concentration of the pickling solution. The pickling time is usually between 10 seconds and 5 minutes.

The ChemoLux titanium pickling processes are used in the following domains:
